Master Office Progress
Stefan and I hung 3 Lack shelves from Ikea in the master office. At $14.99 each, we couldn’t beat the price! I’ve started to gather accessories for the shelves but it’s going to be a work in progress.
I’m unpacking and settling in to our new finished rooms which in one of them there was a special office desk from a Selection of Hidden Home Office Desks, all with different styles and sizes, perfect for any personality. While I continue as I find things, I’ll add to the shelves.
One quick little project for the room was this pinboard. A bit of spray adhesive, some fabric, and a $6 pinboard from Ikea and Voila!
I also spent some time priming and painting this little dresser for the room. It was black and was my bedside table growing up. It’s a super functional piece but it was time for a make-over.
It has wooden knobs but I think it’s time to do something different. I was thinking maybe some glass/acrylic knobs I can always buy something. Maybe even something that can help me thats a little less industrial grade but still good. Or even something brass and shiny.
So many options!
It will be so great once I get this place functional. It will be such a nice spot to type up blog posts and do all my job hunting!

A Short Trip to Florida
To celebrate my 5 year old niece’s victory over cancer, we went to Florida with the Family.
It was a great trip and we had tons of fun playing in the waves, building sandcastles, eating: all the things you do on a good Florida vacation. I even caught this crab with a sand bucket and little shovel.
The kids named him Pluto and then it was Pluto-Sandy in case it was a girl. Pluto is a really good crab name. I was impressed. We took a good picture with him before we let him go. All squinty eyes but it’s part of the beach-picture aesthetic.

We got back late late Sunday night and it’s been a whirlwind week. I’ve got tons of posts coming for you. First, Monday we got the final coat on the floors! Tuesday I had a 102 degree fever and don’t remember what all happened except that I was supposed to go to Ikea. Wednesday the mattress was delivered and the radiators removed! Thursday was trash removal, finding fabric for the bedroom curtains, a 45 min(!) run through ikea and a dentist appointment before sewing sheers so we could sleep in our new bedroom. Friday was some library time, some ikea assembly, some curtain sewing, some shelf staging. Phew what a week! I’m still getting over whatever cold/flu/bug I had on Tuesday but I’ve been staying busy. Now I just need to work on catching up the blog to real life! Get ready for a post a day while I fill you in on all the details! And, if you Follow me on Twitter or on Facebook you would have already seen some sneak peeks!
You’ll be hearing from me soon!

Downton Abbey Finds: Season 1 Episode 3
Lets start with this beautiful dress that Edith is wearing. I love the navy and look at those buttons! Here are 2 pictures so you can get the full idea. The shape is awesome as a dress but the top would make an awesome shirt. The contrasting lapel fabric is cut to give that nice sweetheart shape that is so flattering while maintaining that nice modest and comfortable V-neck.
Here’s a home inspiration for you. I love the shades. There is a foot or so of lace attached to the bottom of the shades. What a cheap and easy way to spruce up roller shades! I also love how the desk faces into the Bay window. It’s an odd furniture arrangement but it seems to work. Then again, it’s a tv show so it’s hard to tell how well it would flow in real life but I do love a desk facing a window.
And last but not least, this jacket. Light blue with dark blue cuffs and top half of a notched collar with a bit of the dark blue trim on the pockets. This would be an easy upgrade to make to a fairly simple wool coat but that contrast just really makes it pop. I’d definitely wear that jacket right now.
As always, stay tuned for some more DA finds!

Another nice blog as I sit at my desk facing out the window watching all the walkers and such.
It’s time to say Goodbye to the Beautiful Radiators
They are so pretty and I love them so much but they just aren’t working for us. We put in forced hot air heat which is awesome and allows us to have AC which is super nice. But, that means the radiators are out.
I sent an email to several Architectural Salvage places and most said “We don’t do radiators” but there’s a guy in the next town over who is a radiator guy. His shop boasts “America’s largest selection of used radiators.” He’s going to have his crew move them out and take the tub in the bargain. As a bonus, he’s going to have his guys carry that claw-foot tub we have in the shed up to the 3rd floor. It’s going to be so nice to have them gone but at the same time, I’m sad to see them go!
Here are some pictures so that they may live forever on the blog and in my heart.

I did not realize the radiator next to the stairs was different and more ornate than the rest. Cool!

Very good pics of the rads. Good job finding someone who can move them and getting the old tub gane and the new one carried up is a super bonus. Good job.
