Cool Thing: Simple Human trashcan

Simple Human is a company with a great eye for design. Everything they make is designed to be easy to use, easy to clean etc. I love the trashcan I got for the kitchen. It was pricey – $99 on Amazon, but the more I use it, the more I like it.

First off, the inside bin comes out easily which makes taking out the trash very simple. There is also a handy hole so that you can tighten the trashbag around the bin liner. But, I think the feature I most like about this trashcan is the handle placement. It is the perfect size to hang a plastic grocery bag in the can. I use about 2 trashbags a week. Trash comes on Tuesday morning and by Sunday night, the trash is usually begging to be taken out. For the final day, I just use a grocery bag and it works wonderfully for getting me through the last day or so before trash day.

It seems like a silly thing but the handles just hold the grocery bag handles perfectly:

It’s a good looking trashcan and the foot mechanism works well but those are thing I expect from a trashcan and the handy bag holder handles is the extra perk that makes this a cool product.

Cool Thing: Ikea Food Storage

I love these little green-lidded food containers. They are super cheap at Ikea and come in a variety pack but the small square and rectangle ones are my favorite.

I use them to break up a big back of pretzels or goldfish into individual lunch portions. It’s so much cheaper than buying anything individually packaged and the ikea containers are so cheap that I have several sets, enough to split a whole bag of pretzels.

Cool Thing: Grooved Cutting Board

I love this cutting board. It’s just a cheap wood one. I think I got it at TJMaxx or Marshalls. The groove is soooo handy. It’s great for anything juicy like tomatoes and anything with lots of scraps like herbs that need to be de-stemmed etc. I also love it for bread since the crumbs just stay in the moat instead of spreading all over the counter.

Next time you need a cutting board, I recommend a groove!

Cool Thing: Sugar Shaker

I love this sugar dispenser. It makes things so neat and easy for coffee in the morning. I found it at Dollar Tree! $1! Awesome. It just makes me so happy that I love having it around. It’s just such a handy little $1 purchase.

I keep it next to the coffee maker.

and whenever I use it up, I toss it in the dishwasher and fill it back up.

Just a cute product I thought I’d share.
